First Concerto with a Major Orchestra
Reviews in the Reno News were: "Brilliant! Tone, intonation and splendid musicality." Jack Neal, Nevada State Journal. So successful was this concert with Byron playing the Casteltuneuvo-Tedesco Concerto with the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra that he was invited back within the year to perform a solo concert for Mother's day. This was particularly satisifying as Byron's Mother Haile, Director of the 2nd largest County Library in the United States was the Grand Marshall at the Reno State Fair shortly afterward and she was in attendence at this concert.
IA year or so later, Byron & Thomas Gunn, the well known Jazz pianist (& Hailie's husband,) performed a "Pops/Classic" Concert together playing Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" and "Take Five" from the Dave Bruebeck Quartet to a packed hall in Elko, NV..
